$15.00 each
The Prayers of King Hezekiah are an inspired set of songs combining the richness of Biblical heritage with the unique classical skills of this composer, my dear friend Amy Tate Williams. The expansive lyric writing calls to mind the finest art song (in the rich tradition of Brahms and Wolf) as well as operatic composition. The full rich piano accompaniment compliments and decorates the vocal line like an orchestral score. In setting these prayers of the historical king, Ms Tate Williams captures the complexity of the man, combining his tender yearning heart with his power of resolve, while also yielding to his joyfulness in worship. If one ventures into these hearty and luxurious songs, the singer and pianist will be challenged, inspired, and honored. I consider The Prayers of King Hezekiah to be a tour de force, a joy to learn and perform. Bradley Garvin
